I am ready Sparky...let's do this.
I mean come on...I've prepared myself by reading countless baby books with conflicting opinions on birthing and raising you, I've listened to solicited (and sometimes let's face it - unsolicited) pregnancy and labor advice from family, friends and strangers, I've watched countless realistic sitcom episodes that depict exactly what to expect during delivery (i.e., 5 minutes of labor pains, some yelling and BAM a baby), so I'm as prepared as I possibly can be. What exactly are you waiting for?
Last night I even convinced your father to come to Scalini's Italian Restaurant with me. Their claim to fame is that their infamous eggplant parmesan helps 'naturally' induce labor in expectant moms(http://www.scalinis.com/Bambino.htm). To them I now say...I want my 11.95 back. I'm convinced this item was the worst selling on the menu so they came up with a clever ruse to increase sales. Well...this sucker bit and suffered through a terrible meal in hopes it would spark at least one tiny contraction. Nada.
I've also tried this new technique where I just stare at my stomach and yell - READY....GO! I am convinced this will eventually work...but your dad looks at me like I'm insane. For an eternal optimist I'm a bit disappointed at his lack of faith in this method.
Your father is handling your arrival in other ways. He keeps himself busy by convincing me it is time for another bath (my second or third of the day) so that he can squeeze in an episode of 16 and pregnant making comments like "If that wacked out kid can raise twins...surely we can do it", or by playing video games for the first time since I've known him (my fault for buying the Wii last summer so that I could use the Fitness program a grand total of three times in a year).
All of this because we are SO excited to meet you. From here on out we will try and wait "patiently" for you to make your arrival...counting down the hours, minutes and seconds until we can hold you in our arms for the first time and tell you how very much we love you and how very blessed we feel that you came into our lives. Until then...please stop kicking me in my rib cage :)
All our love - Mom and Dad
